Lead Engineer

Job description

WHO ARE WE?

Harver is a global leader in pre-employment software. We help large enterprise companies like Booking.com, Heineken, and KPMG build better teams faster. How? We provide the tools and technology to digitally transform recruiting processes from ‘apply’ to ‘hire’ - ensuring a fair opportunity for every applicant! Our agility in the market has made Harver hyper-relevant in our current reality, and despite everything that 2020 has thrown our way, we’ve experienced heavy growth year-on-year and are on track to outperform our forecast targets again. To make sure we keep up the pace, we’re looking for a Lead Software Engineer to join our team in the Amsterdam office.

YOUR IMPACT...

We’re looking for talented, hands-on software engineers to help lead Harver through our next phase of evolution.

As a Lead Software Engineer, you'll lead a team of 4-5 software engineers together with QA, Devops and UX specialists. Software teams at Harver independently own domain services and are responsible for their product development, maintenance, releases and integration.

While familiarity with our technology stack (Node, React, Postgres, Mongo, AWS) is a bonus, we’re looking for more than great coders, we’re looking for great software engineers who are focused on delivering great products and inspiring those around them to do so too.

As a Lead Software Engineer at Harver, you'll advocate for our engineering principles: Simple Design, Behavior Driven, Continuous Process, Non-solo programming and Understanding Production. These five principles are derived from Extreme Programming; we also eschew Scrum in favor of more Kanban and Lean styles of working. These are all concepts should you share experience of but also desire a deeper understanding.

Our company values at Harver also describe, more broadly, our company and engineering culture:

Dare to jump: We give you and your team the power to be autonomous and make decisions

Act one step ahead: We are always continually improving and innovating with our product and technology

Land on the right side of history: We manage and process the data we collect responsibly and ethically. We never discriminate.

Enjoy the ride: Working at Harver is more than a job, it’s a family, it’s fun and always will be.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

  • Leading the holistic design of Harver's software systems; co-owning the overall architecture within the lead engineering team of 3.
  • Enabling the technology team to deliver the business roadmap
  • Supporting and delegating design and architecture of subsystems to senior engineers
  • Mentoring junior engineers whilst always promoting good software engineering principles
  • Re-building frameworks for easier and quicker module creations
  • Understanding our legacy platform and recommending big but feasible changes
  • Continually innovating on our recruitment application process
  • Owning the delivery software from development to production
